Confused whispers spread through the ballroom.
A few moments later, every large display screen inside the venue switched on.
The chairman of Harrington Global Holdings appeared in a live video message.
“Ladies and gentlemen…
After an emergency vote by our board of directors…”
“We have accepted the immediate resignation of CEO David Harrington.”
The ballroom froze.
The chairman continued,
“Our company was built on integrity and respect.”
“Any leader who publicly humiliates a child no longer represents our values.”
David stared at the screen in disbelief.
“This… this can’t be happening.”
Sarah finally spoke.
“I wasn’t seeking revenge.”
“I simply believed the people responsible deserved to know how their company was being represented.”
The guests remained silent.
