Chapter 2: The Wrath of High Society

Christian turned to the wide-eyed, panicked room of guests, his voice cold and unyielding as he commanded everyone to leave immediately. The once-bustling hall emptied in minutes, whispers filling the air as high-society guests hurried out to escape the family's impending wrath.

Once the grand doors slammed shut, Christian immediately snatched a white silk napkin from a table, gently and carefully wiping the thick chocolate frosting from his sister’s face. His eyes were bloodshot with fury, his hands trembling at the sight of the sister he deeply revered being publicly degraded on his wedding day.

Victoria, now partially cleared of the mess, maintained a terrifyingly calm composure. She looked down at Julianne, who had collapsed onto the floor. Her expensive lace gown was now stained with dirty chocolate smudges from the floor, her makeup ruined by tears of panic.

"Victoria... I... I didn't know... I am so sorry, I truly didn't know you were Christian's sister! I thought..." Julianne sobbed hysterically, crawling forward to grasp the hem of Victoria’s teal silk dress, begging for mercy.

Victoria took a step back, avoiding Julianne’s hands as if avoiding a contagion. She pulled a wet wipe from her clutch, slowly cleaning her emerald earrings before speaking in a voice as sharp as ice:

"Because you didn't know who I was, you thought you had the right to treat a guest like trash? If a waitress or an ordinary guest stood here today, would you have used the same violence and humiliation against them? Julianne, this white veil does not suit you. It is far too pure for your true nature."

Christian stood beside her, his fists clenched tightly, the luxury watch on his wrist catching the light—a stark reminder of the elite world Julianne had just barred herself from. He looked at the woman he had intended to marry, feeling a wave of intense disgust. The gentleness and docility Julianne had performed for the past two years were nothing but a flawless mask to climb the social ladder.

"The wedding is off," Christian declared, his voice devoid of any warmth. "The marital contract between our families terminates tomorrow. You and your family will vacate the apartment owned by my sister immediately. Don't make me involve our lawyers."
