Melissa eventually gave a statement through counsel.
She said Judith convinced her Anna was having a postpartum breakdown.
She believed Ruby needed temporary protection.
She admitted printing the caregiver form.
She admitted placing copied signatures onto it.
She admitted taking Anna’s phone.
But she claimed the Savannah trip was only supposed to last “a few days.”
That did not help much.
Then came the nursery.
Why did she attack me?
Her answer:
“I panicked.”
Why grab my hair?
“I thought Claire was kidnapping Ruby.”
I almost laughed when I heard that.
I was standing inside my brother’s nursery.
Calling for him.
Holding his daughter after finding Melissa and Judith interfering with the baby’s monitor.
