By the summer of 2096, the foundation had graduated its twenty-thousandth student. To mark the milestone, young Claire designed a stunning, digital monument called The Century Registry, which was permanently installed in the grand lobby of the Brooklyn Design Laboratory.
The monument was a massive wall of black granite, etched with twenty thousand names of the women who had built their careers through our scholarships. At the very center of the wall, embedded behind a sheet of bulletproof glass, was the original bounced check from 2026.
The red DECLINED stamp remained bright and clear under a dedicated pin-light, a historic catalyst that had reshaped the lineage forever.
A young student from Virginia, who had just received her full fellowship from the trust, stood staring at the check, her face filled with awe. "Is it true, Ms. Davis? Did her own sister really do that to her for an Ivy League tuition?"
