Chapter 4 - The Fall Of The Titan

Back in New York, the descent was swift and merciless. Stripped of his liquidity, his penthouse, and his corporate title, Andrew Weston discovered just how hollow his empire truly was. The elite socialites who had fawned over his custom tuxedos at the Bright Horizons Gala suddenly developed acute memory loss when he called them for legal loans. Lila Summers had already packed her designer luggage, skipped the country on a flight to Zurich using her own secret family trust, and blocked his number before the ink on his asset freeze orders had even dried.
The board of Weston Enterprises didn't even allow him to pack his personal items. By noon, his office had been cleared by temporary workers, his mahogany desk wiped clean, and his name erased from the building directory.

Standing on the cold concrete sidewalk outside his former headquarters with a single cardboard box containing a few framed photographs and legal documents, Andrew watched a taxi stream past him. He pulled out his phone, his fingers shaking as he dialed my number for the hundredth time. It went straight to a dead, automated disconnect tone.
The reality finally crashed down upon him with the crushing weight of an avalanche. He had traded a brilliant, loyal, and deeply loving wife for a superficial socialite who abandoned him the second the bank accounts hit zero. He had traded a family for an illusion of power. And now, the man who believed his checkbook could buy anything was utterly, permanently bankrupt.
