Chapter 8 - The Billionaire Monster Funding My Nightmare

Information is the most dangerous weapon on the planet, and I was a master at wielding it. With Elias actively blocking the camera feeds and feeding a looping video of an empty house to the Vance Logistics server, I went to work. I canceled all my consulting meetings for the week, locked myself in my secure office, and unleashed my entire arsenal of investigative skills.
I dug through years of public records, corporate tax filings, and offshore shell company registrations. I followed the money with the obsessive dedication of a woman fighting for her life. It took me three days of relentless digging to uncover the massive, rotting secret at the core of Vance Logistics.
When the video of Bradley shoving me into the pool went viral three years ago, it did more than just get him fired. The intense public scrutiny brought massive media attention to the company itself. Investigative journalists started poking around the logistics firm, looking for other scandals. Because of that viral attention, Vance Logistics lost a highly lucrative, multi billion dollar defense contract with the federal government. Arthur Vance lost hundreds of millions of dollars in personal stock value, all because of my viral video.
But it went much deeper than that. Bradley was not just a middle manager. He had been Arthur Vance's personal bagman. Bradley had been laundering millions of dollars through fake shell companies to pay off corrupt union officials and local politicians to ensure Vance Logistics secured the best shipping routes. When Bradley was arrested for assaulting me, Arthur Vance panicked. He fired Bradley publicly to save face, but secretly, he funded Bradley's legal defense to ensure Bradley kept his mouth shut about the corporate bribery.
Now that Bradley was off probation, Arthur Vance was paying him massive amounts of money through a shell company to destroy the woman who had inadvertently cost the billionaire his government contract. They were arrogant, powerful men who believed they could crush me like an insect. They believed my wealth was nothing compared to their empire. They were completely wrong.
I printed out hundreds of pages of bank transfers, offshore account numbers, and the encrypted IP logs Elias had traced from the hidden cameras. I arranged them meticulously into a beautiful, undeniable tapestry of corporate fraud, extortion, and illegal surveillance. I had enough evidence to put both Bradley and Arthur Vance in federal prison for the rest of their natural lives.
"What is the plan?" David asked, looking at the massive evidence board I had constructed in the office. He poured me a glass of water, gently massaging the tension in my shoulders. "We can take this straight to the FBI right now. They would raid the Vance Logistics headquarters by morning."

"No," I replied, my eyes scanning the documents, a cold, calculating smile spreading across my face. "If we give this to the authorities quietly, Arthur Vance will use his army of corporate lawyers to delay the trial for a decade. He will post bail. He will flee the country. I am not going to let him hide in the shadows."
I turned to David, pulling him into a soft kiss. "Arthur Vance is hosting the annual Sapphire Charity Gala this Saturday at the Grand Plaza Hotel. All the major politicians, investors, and media outlets will be there. It is his biggest public relations event of the year. He loves performing for an audience." I paused, remembering the horrible laughter from my former in laws around that freezing pool. "I am going to give him the exact same treatment Bradley gave me. We are going to drown them in front of everyone they know."
