I did not attend every hearing.
I did not need to.
Grant’s case involved the physical assault.
Ryan’s conduct was evaluated separately based on the evidence surrounding restraint and participation.
Brooke’s recording mattered.
My medical records mattered.
Photographs mattered.
Witness statements mattered.
What I wanted emotionally did not determine what prosecutors did.
That was healthier than revenge.
Grant initially claimed the cigarette contact was accidental.
The audio complicated that.
Later, through counsel, he stopped making public statements.
Good.
Ryan eventually accepted responsibility for his role rather than forcing me through a full public trial.
I will not pretend that fixed anything.
Legal accountability and emotional repair are different systems.
Grant faced consequences.
Ryan faced consequences.
Neither outcome restored the version of my marriage I thought I had.
