Chapter 6 - IDA FOUGHT THE WRONG BATTLE

Ida heard about the adoption from someone else.
That was intentional.
She had no role.
She called Glen twenty-three times.
Then she sent a letter.

I expected rage.
Instead, he looked tired.
“I used to think if I found the right words, she’d understand.”
I touched his hand.
“Maybe understanding isn’t the problem.”
He looked at me.
“She understands.”
“Yes.”
“She just disagrees.”
“Exactly.”
That realization freed him.
