Chapter 9 - THE BARBECUE VIDEO HELPED THE WRONG PERSON

Denise’s friend had filmed nearly twenty minutes.
She had expected the footage to show me exploding.
It didn’t.
It showed Diane giving Harper a thick steak.
Then placing the burned strip on Eli’s plate.
It captured:
That’s more than enough for you, isn’t it?
Then Denise:
Even dog food looks better than that.
Then my face.
Angry.
Humiliated.
But controlled.
It showed me standing.
Saying we were leaving.
Then sitting back down when Eli begged me not to go.
Later, it showed Denise asking why I was sulking.
My calm answer.
Then our quiet exit.
No screaming.
No thrown dishes.
No threat.
No instability.
Their own attempted evidence documented deliberate humiliation of an eight-year-old.
The guardianship idea went nowhere.
My financial struggles were real.
They did not make me unfit.
The insurance proceeds were placed under appropriate protected arrangements for Eli’s benefit.
Not mine.
Not Denise’s.
Not Diane’s.
Eli’s.
May you like
That was exactly where they belonged.
