Chapter 13: The Cuffs and the Eviction

Seeing the uniform police officers immediately reach for the heavy metallic handcuffs at their belts, Daniel completely panicked. He threw his hands up defensively, backing away until his spine hit the glass balcony doors. "Officer, let me explain! Please, this is all just a minor marital dispute!" he yelled, his voice squeaking with terror. "She is crazy! She forgot to put salt in the food, and she's exaggerating a small argument just to steal my assets and humiliate me! I am a businessman!"

The senior officer looked at Daniel with an expression of cold, unbothered disgust. "Mr. Vance, the clear finger-shaped bruise forming on your wife's face is not a 'minor dispute,'" the officer replied coldly. The officers moved in rapidly, tackling Daniel's weak resistance, wrenching his arms roughly behind his back, and securing his wrists with the heavy metallic handcuffs. The sharp, mechanical click-click of the cuffs locking into place echoed loudly across the luxurious, high-ceilinged room.

"Daniel! My baby! My son!" Vivian wailed dramatically, attempting to lunge forward to block the officers, but she was firmly, immovably blocked by the broad chest of another officer. "You have absolutely no right to arrest him! This is my son's house! He belongs to high society!"

Claire's attorney stepped forward, unzipping a sleek leather-bound folder and presenting a document. "Mrs. Vance, this is the legal deed of ownership under my client's sole name, accompanied by an emergency eviction order signed electronically by the duty judge two hours ago. You have exactly ten minutes to collect your personal handbag and vacate this building. If you remain on the premises or attempt to touch a single piece of furniture funded by Miss Henderson's accounts, we will immediately press formal charges for grand larceny."

Vivian looked at the official legal document, then at the shiny police badges, and finally at her only son, who was already being led out the front door with a torn lounge robe, his face covered in deep humiliation and futile regret. The superficial arrogance of a woman who had spent years pampering herself on another person's wealth completely crumbled into pathetic, desperate tears. She sank heavily onto the cẩm thạch floor, trying to claw desperately at Claire's ankles. "Claire... please... I'm so sorry... I was only joking... It's freezing outside tonight, please let me stay, I will pack tomorrow, I promise..."
