PART 10 — THE BIRTH AND THE FINAL TRUTH

PART 10 — THE BIRTH AND THE FINAL TRUTH

The room erupted.

Security surrounded my grandfather.

My father shouted orders.

Elena called the emergency response team.

My mother stood frozen, staring at the man who had controlled her life for fifteen years.

But I heard only one thing.

Not the shouting.

Not the footsteps.

Not the alarms.

One sentence.

The baby is closer to being born than anyone realized.

I grabbed my stomach.

A sharp pain moved through me.

Different from before.

Stronger.

I looked at my mother.

Her eyes widened.

"Valeria?"

I tried to breathe.

"I..."

Another wave came.

This time everyone noticed.

My father rushed toward me.

"What is it?"

I looked at him.

"The baby."

His face changed instantly.

The powerful businessman disappeared.

The father returned.

"We need a hospital."

My grandfather laughed.

Even surrounded by guards.

Even defeated.

He laughed.

"Now you understand."

My father turned toward him.

"What did you do?"

My grandfather smiled.

"Nothing."

A pause.

"Everything was already prepared."

Elena immediately checked the documents.

Her face changed.

"He's right."

Everyone looked at her.

"The medical system."

She typed faster.

"The delivery records were altered."

My heart dropped.

"What does that mean?"

She swallowed.

"Your scheduled doctor was replaced."

Silence.

My mother stepped forward.

"Who?"

Elena looked at the screen.

"The replacement physician..."

A pause.

"Was approved under Salazar authority."

Everyone turned toward my father.

His face went pale.

But then Elena shook her head.

"No."

She looked confused.

"The authorization is older."

My mother whispered:

"How old?"

Elena looked up.

"Fifteen years."

Everyone froze.

Fifteen years.

The same time my mother disappeared.

The same time Operation Valeria began.

The same time my life was turned into a plan.

My grandfather smiled.

"You finally understand."

My father grabbed his collar.

"Who is the doctor?"

My grandfather didn't answer.

He didn't need to.

Because Elena found the name.

And the moment she read it...

Her face changed.

"It's impossible."

My mother looked.

"Who?"

Elena turned the screen.

The name appeared.

Dr. Mateo Salazar

My blood went cold.

Another Salazar.

Another secret.

My father stared.

"No."

My mother covered her mouth.

"He died."

Everyone looked at her.

She whispered:

"He was my brother."

My uncle.

The man nobody mentioned.

The man who supposedly died before I was old enough to remember.

Another dead person.

Another ghost.

Another lie.

My grandfather looked at me.

"You see?"

He said softly.

"Family is stronger than truth."

I stared at him.

"No."

A pause.

"Family is supposed to protect you."

My voice became stronger.

"Not own you."

The pain came again.

Harder.

I bent forward.

Santiago caught me.

"Valeria."

For the first time, his voice was gentle.

Not demanding.

Not controlling.

Just afraid.

"Look at me."

I did.

"We're going to get through this."

I almost laughed.

Because months ago, I never thought I would trust him again.

But now...

He was the person holding my hand.

My father looked at Santiago.

A long silence passed.

Then he said:

"Protect her."

Santiago nodded.

"I will."

And somehow...

That meant more than any promise before.

We left the estate immediately.

The city moved around us.

Lights.

Cars.

People living normal lives.

While my entire world was falling apart.

Inside the car, my mother sat beside me.

For several minutes, neither of us spoke.

Then she whispered:

"I'm sorry."

I looked out the window.

"I don't know how to forgive you."

She nodded.

"I know."

A tear fell.

"I don't deserve it."

The honesty surprised me.

No excuses.

No explanations.

Just regret.

"Why didn't you come back?"

The question had lived inside me for fifteen years.

She closed her eyes.

"Because every time I tried..."

Her voice broke.

"He found me."

I looked at her.

"He?"

She nodded.

"Your grandfather."

A pause.

"He controlled everything."

"The police."

"The courts."

"The companies."

"Even people I trusted."

She touched my hand.

"I watched you grow up from far away."

My chest tightened.

"You watched?"

She cried.

"Your first day of school."

"Your graduation."

"Your wedding."

"I was there."

A pause.

"But I couldn't approach you."

"Because if he knew..."

She looked at my stomach.

"He would come for you."

I didn't know whether to hate her or hold her.

Maybe both.

Maybe love and anger could exist together.

When we reached the hospital...

Everything was ready.

Too ready.

Doctors.

Security.

Emergency teams.

But this time...

It was different.

Because we chose them.

Not my grandfather.

Not my family.

Us.

The doctor examined me.

"You are going into labor."

My heart raced.

"Already?"

He nodded.

"The baby is coming."

Everyone outside the room prepared.

My father.

My mother.

Santiago.

All waiting.

Hours passed.

Pain.

Fear.

Exhaustion.

But something else.

Strength.

For the first time in my life...

I wasn't fighting to survive.

I was fighting for someone else.

Then the final moment came.

A cry filled the room.

A tiny, powerful cry.

My son was born.

The nurse placed him in my arms.

And everything stopped.

The world.

The fear.

The secrets.

Everything.

Just him.

"Hello."

I whispered.

My tears fell onto his tiny face.

"You're finally here."

Outside the room...

My father sat quietly.

A man who had controlled companies.

Negotiated deals.

Built an empire.

Crying because he became a grandfather.

My mother stood beside him.

And for the first time in fifteen years...

They weren't enemies.

They were just two broken people who loved the same child.

Santiago entered.

Slowly.

He looked at our son.

His face changed.

A mixture of wonder and pain.

"I'm sorry."

I looked at him.

"For everything."

A pause.

"I know words aren't enough."

I nodded.

"They aren't."

He accepted it.

Because he understood.

Forgiveness wasn't something he could demand.

Days later, my grandfather faced trial.

The evidence was overwhelming.

The recordings.

The documents.

The financial crimes.

The entire operation.

Everything.

The empire he built to control everyone collapsed because he couldn't control one thing.

The truth.

Months later...

I stood outside the old Salazar estate.

The place where my life had been turned into a plan.

My son was in my arms.

My father stood beside me.

My mother beside him.

Santiago a few steps away.

Not perfect.

Not healed completely.

But trying.

The estate was no longer a symbol of power.

We turned it into something else.

A foundation.

A place for families who needed protection.

A place where children could grow without being treated like investments.

People asked me how I survived everything.

The betrayal.

The abuse.

The lies.

The impossible secrets.

I always gave the same answer.

I survived because they thought I was powerless.

They thought a woman could be controlled if she was alone.

They were wrong.

I wasn't saved by wealth.

I wasn't saved by a family name.

I wasn't saved by power.

I was saved when I finally understood one thing:

My life was never theirs to control.

My son would never inherit their darkness.

He would inherit something better.

A choice.

A future.

May you like

A chance to become someone completely his own.

And that was the one thing no empire could ever take away.
