Chapter 8 - Stripping the Syndicate

Over the next six months, I systematically dismantled the illegal operations of the Hale crime network.

With Marcus locked away in a federal facility and his corrupt allies exposed, I used my controlling interest to liquidate our underworld assets, transferring billions of dollars into legitimate international logistics, clean energy investments, and medical research foundations.

My lieutenants, who had once known me only as a ruthless, unyielding mob boss, saw a leader who operated with absolute authority rooted in purpose and integrity.

One afternoon, Marco walked into my renovated office at the Hale Tower, placing a leather-bound folder on my desk.

"The final transfer went through, Boss," Marco reported, looking genuinely relaxed for the first time in years. "The docks are entirely converted to commercial freight. The federal audit is complete. You are officially a one-hundred-percent legitimate businessman."

"And Marcus?" I asked, signing the closing documents on the desk.

"His appeal was rejected this morning," Marco smiled grimly. "He will spend the rest of his natural life in a maximum-security cell in Colorado. He has no money, no influence, and no family left who will take his calls."

"Good," I nodded, closing the folder with a satisfying snap. "Is the transport ready?"

"Waiting downstairs, sir," Marco replied. "Though I think you should get going. Mrs. Vance called three times to make sure you weren't late for the fitting."

I chuckled, standing up and buttoning my suit jacket. "If I'm late, Grace will make me clean the kitchen floor myself."
