Chapter 5 - The First Touch

"Are you alright?" Dominic searched her eyes, his thumbs stroking her cheekbones with an incredible, unexpected tenderness.

"I'm fine," Norah murmured, her hands rising instinctively to rest against his wrists.

His skin was warm, his pulse drumming fast against her palms.

She could feel the raw power holding back his restraint, the sheer physical strength that could crush a man's skull, yet he held her as if she were made of delicate glass.

"He won't come near you again," Dominic promised, his eyes dropping to her mouth. "I won't let anyone frighten you."

Norah looked up at him, her heart beating furiously.

The space between them felt electrified.

She had spent 28 years untouched, isolated from the world of desire, romance, and touch. She had imagined it would feel terrifying or awkward.

Instead, standing in the arms of a feared mafia leader, she felt an overwhelming sense of safety.

"Dominic," she whispered his name for the first time.

His jaw tightened at the sound of his name on her lips.

He leaned down slowly, giving her every opportunity to pull away.

Norah did not move.

She closed her eyes as his lips brushed hers—a soft, tentative contact that sent a jolt of liquid heat straight down her spine.

Dominic groaned softly, his arms wrapping tightly around her waist, pulling her flush against his body as he deepened the kiss.

His mouth was warm, demanding, yet infinitely gentle. He tasted like espresso and dark chocolate.

Norah gasped into his mouth, her fingers tangling into his thick hair as she surrendered completely to the sensation.

When he finally pulled back, both of them were breathing heavily.

Dominic rested his forehead against hers, his hands still anchored firmly at her hips.

"You have no idea what you do to me, Norah," he murmured, his dark eyes ablaze with possessive fire. "From the moment you told me you had no one... I knew I was never going to let you go."

Norah smiled softly through her flushed cheeks, leaning up to press another gentle kiss against his jaw. "I don't think I want to be let go."
