Chapter 8 - Into the Fire

Through the swirling smoke stepped Dominic Gallow.

He wore no suit coat—only a black tactical vest over a dark shirt, holding a silenced submachine gun in his hands. His eyes were burning with a dark, apocalyptic fury that struck terror into every man in the room.

"Get him!" Julian screamed, scrambling behind his guards.

Gunfire erupted inside the warehouse.

Dominic moved with terrifying speed, firing with surgical precision as he advanced through the kill zone.

His guards poured through the breached entrance behind him, engaging Julian’s men in a brutal firefight.

Norah ducked her head as bullets whizzed overhead, ricocheting off the steel beams.

Dominic pressed forward, taking out three hitmen in succession before reaching the center of the floor.

Julian grabbed Norah from behind, pulling her up as a human shield, pressing a revolver against her temple.

"Drop your weapon, Dom!" Julian shrieked, his hand shaking uncontrollably. "Drop it or I blow her brains out!"

Dominic stopped ten feet away.

His weapon remained pointed steadily at Julian’s head.

The warehouse grew deathly quiet except for the sound of falling rain and groaning wounded men.

"Julian," Dominic said, his voice terrifyingly calm. "If you hurt her, there is no place on this earth where you can hide from me."

"You soft bastard!" Julian yelled, tightening his grip on Norah's dress. "You gave up everything for this little nobody!"

Norah looked into Dominic’s eyes.

She saw no fear in him—only an absolute, unshakeable promise to protect her.

Norah took a sharp breath.

Using all her strength, she slammed her heavy silk heel onto Julian’s foot while driving her elbow backward into his ribs.

Julian gasped in pain, his balance slipping for half a second.

It was all the space Dominic needed.

Pfft-pfft.

Two quick suppressed shots rang out.

Julian fell backward onto the wet concrete, his revolver slipping from his fingers.

Dominic dropped his weapon and lunged forward, catching Norah before she could hit the floor.
