Chapter 7

A Constellation of Hope
One year later, the Saint Aurelia Ballroom was booked once again. But this time, there were no gold-trimmed porcelain plates, no pretentious couture crowds, and no air of cold, restrained expectation.
The ballroom had been transformed into a warm, vibrant space filled with fairy lights that twinkled like genuine stars. The guests were a mix of recovery center staff, survivors, old friends who had proven their true loyalty, and family.
Caroline stood in front of a mirror in the dressing room. She wore a simple, elegant ivory silk dress. She wore no veil to hide her face, and no heavy emerald necklaces to weigh her down. The only jewelry she wore was a simple silver band on her finger.
Estelle walked in, tears of joy in her eyes. She placed a gentle hand on Caroline's scarred cheek. "You are the most breathtaking bride I have ever seen, Caroline. True beauty isn't found in a perfect face. It’s found in a soul that refuses to break."
"Thank you, Mom," Caroline whispered, hugging her tightly.
When the doors opened, Caroline walked down the aisle. There was no smoke, no fear, and no anger. At the end of the aisle stood Leo, his eyes locked onto hers with a devotion that was fierce and absolute.
As they exchanged their vows, promising to protect each other and continue helping others heal, the guests didn't look at Caroline with pity or shock. They looked at her with profound admiration. She was no longer the tragic victim of a newspaper headline, nor was she the ghost demanding vengeance. She was a survivor, a healer, and a protector.
The reception was filled with laughter, real music, and genuine love. During their first dance, beneath the glowing chandeliers that now looked like warm, welcoming lights rather than frozen constellations, Leo leaned in close to Caroline's ear.
"Where do you want to go for our honeymoon?" he asked with a smile. "Paris? Rome?"
Caroline laughed, a sound that was rich, full, and completely free of the past. She looked out at her mother laughing with Captain Vance, and then back up at her husband.

"Let’s just stay right here," Caroline said, resting her head against his chest as the music played on. "We've finally found our way home."
The ashes of Malibu were gone, the white room in the desert was closed forever, and in their place, a new life had beautifully bloomed.
