Chapter 9 - The Miracle Trial

Six months later.

Spring had arrived in the Berkshire Hills, turning the pine forest into a vibrant sea of green leaves and blooming wild lilies.

In the sunlit courtyard of the estate, a massive long wooden table was set with fresh flowers, white linen, and bowls of homemade pasta.

Dr. Evans stood beside the head of the table, holding a clipboard and smiling broadly.

"The final bone marrow biopsy came back from the lab this morning," Dr. Evans announced to the gathered group, raising a glass of sparkling water. "Keo is officially in complete, zero-detectable remission."

A loud cheer erupted from the table. Frank and the security guards clapped wildly, tossing their hats into the air, while the estate chef popped a bottle of vintage champagne.

Keo, now looking completely healthy with a thick head of dark hair, jumped out of his chair and ran across the grass toward Dominic, who was standing near the stone archway.

"Dominic! I beat the bad cells!" Keo yelled, jumping into the tall man's arms.

Dominic caught the boy easily, swinging him up onto his shoulder with a rich, booming laugh that surprised even Frank.

"I never doubted you for a second, Captain Galaxy," Dominic said, ruffling the boy's dark curls before putting him down to play with his dog.

Linda stepped up beside Dominic, her hand slipping naturally into his. She was wearing a simple lilac dress, her skin glowing with health, happiness, and peace.

"You did it," she whispered, looking up at him with tear-filled eyes. "You gave us a miracle."

Dominic turned to her, pulling her close against his side. "The miracle was you walking into my study three years ago, Linda."

Dominic pulled a small velvet box from his pocket.

The entire table went silent as the former mob boss dropped to one knee on the lush green grass.

Linda gasped, her hands flying to her mouth.

"I spent my entire life taking things from this world, Linda," Dominic said softly, his voice thick with genuine emotion as he opened the box to reveal a stunning emerald engagement ring. "You taught me how to give. You taught me how to love. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife, and letting me be a real father to Keo?"

Linda dropped to her knees beside him, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck, crying tears of overwhelming joy.

"Yes! Yes, Dominic! A thousand times yes!" she cried out.

The entire courtyard erupted into cheers and applause as Dominic slipped the emerald ring onto her finger, sealing their future with a deep, passionate kiss beneath the bright spring sun.
