Part 10: The True Balance

People like the Reeds always believe that because they carry a proud title, they can control who gets broken.

They look at a man who values peace and mistake his long patience for an absolute, permanent weakness.

They completely forget that the same person who controls the midnight streets is the one who knows how to lock the net.

I drove back to the medical center, walking quietly into the warm room where the sun filtered through the tall windows.

Grace looked up from the bed, her face soft and beautiful as she held our son against her chest.

The old routine was torn to shreds, the liars were contained in a maximum-security compliance audit, and our world was safe.

The infrastructure was clear, the assets were insulated, and the family legacy was permanently, beautifully ours.

I sat on the edge of the mattress, my hand covering hers, watching the light return to her eyes.
