Chapter 15 - The Fall of the Firstborn

Time seemed to slow down to a crawl. I saw the flash of the ceramic blade catching the overhead lights, but before I could even flinch, Dominic moved with the speed of a striking viper. He grabbed Alessandro’s wrist mid-air, twisting it with a sickening crack that echoed through the massive boardroom.

Alessandro screamed, dropping the blade as he was slammed brutally onto the mahogany table. Dominic pressed his forearm against his older brother’s throat, his dark eyes blazing with a feral, terrifying protective instinct.

"You come into my city," Dominic snarled, his voice a low, vibrating growl of absolute menace. "You threaten my mother. And you raise a weapon against my wife. You aren't a king, Alessandro. You're a ghost. And it’s time you went back to the grave."

The elevator doors behind us dinged sharply. The heavily armed NYPD tactical unit, summoned by the silent alarm I had triggered from the server room twenty minutes earlier, flooded the penthouse. They surrounded the table, their assault rifles raised, laser sights painting Alessandro’s chest in a dozen red dots.

Dominic slowly released his grip, stepping back and pulling me tightly into his side. He wrapped his arm around my waist, his heart hammering against my shoulder as the tactical officers dragged a raving, hysterical Alessandro off the table and slapped heavy steel cuffs onto his wrists.

"This isn't over! I am the blood heir! You can't erase me!" Alessandro screamed as they hauled him toward the elevators, his bespoke suit ruined, his terrifying composure completely broken.

"I don't have to erase you," Dominic said coldly. "You never existed."

When the doors finally closed, taking the last remnant of the toxic Rossi past with them, the silence in the boardroom was profound. Dominic turned to me, his chest heaving. He reached up, cupping my face in his large, warm hands, his thumbs gently brushing over my cheekbones.

"You realized the video was a fake," he whispered, awe and absolute reverence radiating from his eyes. "You gambled my mother's life on a tattoo."

"I gambled on the facts," I smiled softly, leaning into his touch, my adrenaline finally beginning to ebb. "I survived the streets, Dominic. I survived the Morettis, and I survived the Vances. I wasn't going to let a ghost with a parlor trick steal our future."

Dominic let out a breathless, relieved laugh, pulling me into a kiss that was fierce, desperate, and filled with a love so deep it completely consumed me.

Later that evening, we stood on the balcony of our penthouse, looking out over the glittering skyline of Manhattan. The air was crisp, and the city below belonged entirely to us. The empire was purged. The shadows were finally gone. I leaned my head on Dominic’s shoulder, the vintage sapphire ring catching the city lights, knowing with absolute certainty that no matter what storms came for us, the Queen of the Rossi empire would never fall.
