Chapter 6 - MARCUS’S MOTHER MADE A MISTAKE
Evelyn tried to contact the pediatrician herself.
That became one of the clearest pieces of the plan.
She left a voicemail.
The office preserved it.
Her voice was calm.
Concerned.
Maternal.
“I’m Noah’s grandmother. We’re worried about Sarah. She seems overly possessive and emotionally fragile. Marcus may need guidance about what to do if she suddenly leaves with the baby.”
The receptionist had responded:
“We cannot discuss Sarah or Noah without appropriate authorization.”
Evelyn pushed.
“I’m trying to prevent something.”
The receptionist documented it.
That happened three days before Marcus dragged me off the toilet.
Three days.
They had already begun laying a trail.
Evelyn later claimed she was worried about me.
Maybe part of her believed that.
Control can disguise itself even from the person exercising it.
But concern does not require fabricating instability.
