Dominic had hidden something too.
Not from Rebecca deliberately.
From everyone.
Antonio Falcone’s papers revealed Dominic had technically inherited an obligation tied to Samuel’s trust.
If Rebecca claimed the property, Dominic was required to offer her a board seat in the foundation.
He had not known.
Rebecca laughed when Elena explained.
“Absolutely not.”
Dominic blinked.
“What?”
“I don’t want a ceremonial chair because my father saved somebody.”
“It isn’t ceremonial.”
“Then I especially don’t want it until I understand what I’m doing.”
Dominic smiled.
“You really are Samuel’s daughter.”
Rebecca hated when people said that.
Then realized she did not hate it this time.
She spent a year learning.
Finance.
Property management.
Tenant law.
Governance.
Then accepted the seat.
Not because of gratitude.
Competence.
