Chapter 7 - NICOLE CHOSE TO TALK

Nicole cooperated.
Not immediately.
Not heroically.
But eventually.
She gave investigators old messages.
Dad had written:
Don’t tell her yet. She can’t handle another crisis.
Mom:
Once Madison is stable, we’ll repay everything.
Then later:
She never checks the account anyway.
That one hurt.
Not because it was false.
Because it was true.
For years, Dad had taught me that trusting him meant I did not need to check.
Nicole also produced a message that changed everything.
Dad:
If the house closes before she notices, we can clean up the statements afterward.
The new house.
My house with Evan.
They knew a mortgage review might expose inconsistencies.
That explained why the bag had appeared at the engagement party.
They were not cleaning old paperwork.
They were destroying evidence before my financial life became more closely reviewed.
This was not only history.
May you like
They were still covering it up.
