Chapter 9 - The Proxy Showdown

The annual shareholder meeting took place in the grand ballroom of a historic hotel in downtown New York. Over two thousand investors, financial analysts, and journalists filled the room, creating an atmosphere of intense, electric anticipation. Gabriel Thorne sat in the front row surrounded by his legal team, wearing a bespoke pinstripe suit, looking entirely confident that he was about to strip me of my title and take control of my life work.

I walked onto the main stage wearing a sharp navy blue suit, standing behind the mahogany podium. The room fell into an eager silence as the large projection screens behind me illuminated.

Thorne stood up immediately, raising his microphone before I could speak. "Madam Chairman, before you begin your presentation, I move for an immediate vote on Resolution Four. Valhalla Capital controls thirty eight percent of the voting proxy. Combined with our institutional allies, we have the majority required to remove you from the board and transfer the patent holdings to our trust."

A murmur rippled through the crowd. Financial reporters began typing frantically on their laptops. Thorne smiled triumphantly, holding up his legal documents.

"Mr. Thorne," I said calmly, my voice echoing clearly through the auditorium. "Before the board considers your motion, we must address the legal validity of your proxy votes."

I clicked a button on the remote control. The giant screens behind me shifted from the corporate agenda to a massive, live financial ledger.

"Over the past three weeks," I continued, "Valhalla Capital has engaged in systemic securities fraud, market manipulation, and grand extortion. You claimed my patents were invalid based on forged papers provided by convicted felon Arthur Sterling. Furthermore, you used illegal Singapore shell entities to crash our stock while secretly accumulating shares."

Thorne's arrogant smile vanished. His lead attorney leaped to his feet. "This is an outrageous personal attack! Madam Chairman is out of order!"

"I am not out of order, counselor," I replied. "And neither are the federal authorities."

The heavy double doors at the back of the ballroom swung open. Agent Vance and a team of federal marshals marched down the central aisle, accompanied by international financial regulators. The crowd gasped as cameras flashed wildly.

"Gabriel Thorne," Agent Vance announced, stopping beside Thorne's chair. "You are under arrest for conspiracy, wire fraud, and illegal market manipulation. Stand up and place your hands behind your back."

Thorne looked around the room in absolute horror as federal officers clicked heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists. The journalists captured every second of his humiliation, broadcasting his arrest live to millions of viewers worldwide.
