Chapter 10: The Bloodline Conspiracy

"I didn't plan to steal her!" David cried out, his voice cracking into a high-pitched, pathetic scream as he clawed at his own hair. "My mother told me it was a mandatory legal protection document for the family estate trust! She told me that if I didn't sign it immediately to confirm Mia's direct lineage, my father's estate would completely exclude her from the inheritance! I didn't read the terms at the bottom! I swear to God, I just trusted my mother!"
"Because you have always been a pathetic, weak little boy, David!" Margaret interrupted, stepping over his trembling form, her face a mask of cold, unhinged arrogance. "Did you truly believe I brought that common girl into this house because I cared about your little high-school romance? No! I allowed you to marry her because she was the only available key to a treasure we desperately needed!"
She looked at Julia, her lip curling with an ancient, bitter hatred. "You thought you were special, Julia? You thought my son chose you for your mind? Your family came from nothing, but your great-grandfather was an old landowner who established a highly restricted, generational trust fund that lay dormant for decades. A fund that could only be legally unlocked and transferred to a fourth-generation heir... a child born of your direct bloodline."
She sneered, looking around the room at the stunned faces of the city's elite. "Our corporation was already bleeding money eight years ago due to my investments. I needed that child to be born. I needed her to carry the Miller name. And I forced David to sign that custody agreement so that the moment the trust fund matured, we could divorce you, kick you to the curb with nothing, and move those millions into a secure asset management account that I controlled as the child's guardian!"
The room went completely ice-cold. The sheer, calculated psychopathy of the plot was breathtaking. It was a multi-year chess match where Julia had been used as a human incubator, and her daughter was nothing more than a financial laundering mechanism masquerading as a grandchild. They had never seen either of them as human beings.
Mia clung to Julia’s waist, her small face buried in her mother’s dress, her entire body shaking with a deep, psychological terror. She didn't understand corporate laundering, but she understood that her father had betrayed her mother, and her grandmother viewed her as a piece of property.
"Mommy... please let's go... I want to go home... I don't want to be here anymore..." the child begged through her tears.

Julia lifted Mia into her arms, holding her head against her shoulder, shielding her from the toxic room. She looked down at the pathetic man on the floor and the wicked woman standing over him, her voice dead to all emotion:
"You are not human. You are predators. And as of this exact second, my daughter and I are entirely dead to your name."
