Chapter 8: The Multi-Million Dollar Lie

David Miller stared up at the massive LED screen, his entire body shaking so violently his teeth chattered audibly. He looked at his mother, then at Julia, his mouth opening and closing like a fish gasping for air. "Julia... what is this... how long have you been doing this? You’ve been running a secret investigation against my own mother?!"
"I didn't investigate you, David," Julia said, her voice completely devoid of warmth. "I simply kept a record of the poison your family forced me to drink for ten years because I knew a day would come when I would need to prove the truth to save my daughter. You knew exactly what she was doing to me, but you chose to be a blind coward because it was easier to let me bleed than to stand up to your mother's money."
Margaret Miller's face was completely bloodless, her hands clutching the edge of the mahogany table so hard her knuckles turned a translucent white. But her predatory instincts were still alive, and she tried to launch one final, desperate counter-offensive. "This is a fraudulent fabrication! Lawyer Carter, you have been thoroughly deceived by this malicious girl! These documents are deepfakes, AI-generated fabrications designed to extort my family! I will have you disbarred and ruined for defamation!"
Daniel Carter offered her a brief, chilling smile that carried the weight of a judge's gavel. He didn't engage in an emotional argument. He simply opened the second leather folder in his hand, his baritone voice carrying effortlessly across the room, delivering a fatal blow to the Miller empire.
"Mrs. Miller, these files have already been forensically authenticated and verified by the State Bureau of Digital Forensics. But more importantly, this personal abuse is not the primary reason my firm was retained."
He turned his gaze directly onto David Miller. "Ladies and gentlemen, in addition to a decade of documented domestic coercion and psychological torture against my client, our firm has compiled a complete, undeniable ledger of corporate embezzlement, systemic tax fraud, and the illegal tẩu tán tài sản (transfer of assets) from the primary holdings of Miller Holdings into unlisted offshore shell companies over the last seven years."
The guests shifted violently in their seats. Miller Holdings was the crown jewel of the local economy, the very engine that funded the family's high-society lifestyle and political donations.
Daniel pulled a stack of certified documents bearing the red seals of the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Bankruptcy Court. "The total amount of capital illegally tẩu tán (transferred) exceeds forty-two million dollars. This systematic asset-stripping was deliberately executed to insulate the family's personal wealth prior to filing for a fraudulent corporate bankruptcy, leaving hundreds of local creditors and suppliers completely ruined."
He looked at David with cold pity. "And the executive officer who legally authorized, signed, and executed every single one of those fraudulent financial transfers... was you, David Miller."
David loạng choạng (loạng choạng) backward, his knees buckling completely as he hit his overturned chair, crashing down onto the floor. He stared in absolute horror at the high-definition display of his own signature magnified on the LED screen.
"No... no! I didn't know! I didn't know it was illegal!" David shrieked, his voice cracking into a pathetic wail as tears and cold sweat poured down his face. "My mother... she brought me those papers! She told me they were routine venture capital expansions! She said it was for our future! I just trusted my mother!"

"Ignorance is not a legal defense, Mr. Miller," Daniel Carter replied coldly. "Your signature is on forty-two separate counts of federal financial fraud. Legally speaking, you are the primary co-conspirator in the grand larceny of your own firm."
The illusion of the perfect family, the aristocratic heritage, the elite status—all of it was being ground into dust in the middle of the ballroom floor.
