Chapter 1: The Tyranny in Emerald

The grand foyer of the Bellevue Estate was less of a home and more of a gilded cage, designed to reflect the massive wealth and cold aristocracy of its inhabitants. Every inch of the sprawling hallway was lined with imported, immaculate white marble that caught the morning light like a sheet of pure ice. Towering columns rose toward a frescoed ceiling, and ancestral portraits stared down with detached, unblinking judgment. For Clara, an orphaned eighteen-year-old girl who had been brought into the manor under the guise of "charitable employment," this hallway was a gauntlet of terror.

Standing at the center of this opulent expanse was Eleanor, the mistress of the manor. Clad in a heavy, structured gown of shimmering emerald green silk that rustled aggressively with her every movement, Eleanor exuded an aura of absolute, unchecked authority. Her fingers, weighed down by thick gold bands and flawless diamonds, tapped impatiently against her hip. To Eleanor, status was religion, and anyone who lacked an aristocratic lineage was nothing more than dust beneath her designer heels.

Opposite her stood Clara, wearing a simple, faded red cotton dress that had been washed so many times the fabric was practically translucent. It was a stark, almost rebellious contrast to the icy white marble and the oppressive green of Eleanor’s gown. Clara kept her chin pressed against her chest, her hands trembling as she held a silver polishing cloth. She had endured months of Eleanor's systematic cruelty—the psychological degradation, the impossible chores, the sharp, biting insults designed to remind her of her insignificance.

But today, Eleanor’s venomous gaze was fixed not on Clara’s performance, but on a small, hidden detail that had slipped from the collar of her faded red dress.
