He didn’t sit.

“I am filing an injunction to freeze the accounts.”

I slowly opened the black leather notebook.

I turned to page forty-two.

“Marcus Vance,” I read aloud.

His jaw tightened.

“April 14th, 2012. You helped Julian bankrupt the local steel mill.”

“You bought the land for pennies.”

“Three hundred people lost their jobs.”

I looked up at him.

No cartoonish villainy.

No overacting.

Just the cold, undeniable weight of the truth.

“I already sent this page to the federal prosecutor.”

Marcus froze.

The arrogance completely melted off his face.

“Enjoy your injunction, Marcus.”

He didn’t say another word.

He just turned and walked out.
