Chapter 30 - The Arrest of the MoleThe takedown was swift, silent, and absolute.

Before Marcus Vance even had time to slide out of booth number four, four federal agents in tactical gear swarmed the diner doors, weapons holstered but hands ready.

“FBI! Stay where you are! Put your hands on the table!” Agent Miller’s voice echoed across the quiet diner.

Vance froze, his face draining of all color as federal badges were flashed in his face. He tried to reach for his briefcase, but an agent pinned his wrists to the tabletop with practiced efficiency, slapping cold steel handcuffs around his wrists.

“You’re making a mistake! I’m an Assistant District Attorney!” Vance protested loudly as he was hauled to his feet.

“You’re an accessory to corporate extortion and money laundering,” Miller replied coldly, reading him his rights as they led him out the front door toward an awaiting federal vehicle.

Julian and I stepped out of the surveillance van across the street, watching as the corrupt prosecutor who tried to sell out our family was driven away in the back of an unmarked cruiser.

“That’s the last of her structural support,” Julian said, sliding his hands into his pockets with a deep, cleansing breath. “Without Marcus Vance feeding her information and shielding her assets, your mother’s legal defense has officially collapsed.”
