Part 9: The Mistress’s Deposition

The investigation took another dramatic turn when Daniel’s mistress, Vanessa, was subpoenaed by the state fraud division.
Realizing that she was facing a ten-year sentence for her involvement in the $4.2 million shell company, she immediately turned against him.
She sat in the deposition room, her blonde hair unkempt, her manicured fingers trembling as she signed a total confession ledger.
"Daniel told me Chloe was unstable," Vanessa sobbed into her tissue, her voice recorded on the official court state log.
"He said his mother had a plan to force her out of the penthouse so we could take over the Uptown real estate portfolio."
"I didn't know he was going to hit her. I didn't know about the forged signatures. He told me everything was legally clear."

He had ruined his marriage, his career, and his freedom for a woman who didn't hesitate to hand his life over to the state prosecutors.
