Chapter 18 - The Art Exhibition

|

Sofía had discovered a new passion: sculpting. Working with clay allowed her to express herself spatially, relying entirely on touch and texture to create complex, beautiful shapes.

Roberto transformed a small, unused sunroom in the estate into a dedicated art studio for her, complete with a potter's wheel and endless supplies of clay.

Six months later, her art teacher, a patient and encouraging woman named Ms. Clara, organized a small exhibition at a local community gallery to showcase the work of her visually impaired students.

Roberto arrived at the gallery an hour early, wearing a sharp suit and carrying a massive bouquet of yellow roses—Sofía's favorite color, even if she couldn't see it, she loved the smell.

The gallery was buzzing with proud parents and excited children. Roberto found Sofía’s display in the center of the room. It was a series of abstract, swirling clay forms that looked like crashing waves.

"Daddy! You made it!" Sofía cheered, hearing his familiar footsteps approaching her station.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world, Captain," Roberto smiled, kneeling down and handing her the roses.

Sofía buried her face in the flowers, inhaling deeply. "They smell like sunshine."

Elena arrived a few minutes later, accompanied by Marcus, who had become a surprisingly devoted uncle-figure to Sofía.

"These are incredible, Sofía," Elena praised, gently running her fingers over the smooth curves of the clay. "You have a real gift."

"Ms. Clara says I 'see' with my hands better than most people see with their eyes," Sofía stated proudly.

Roberto looked at his daughter, standing tall and confident amidst her creations, surrounded by people who loved her fiercely. He realized that this, too, was an empire—an empire of creativity, resilience, and unshakeable support.

"Ms. Clara is absolutely right," Roberto agreed, his heart swelling with immense pride.
