Chapter 32 - The Tuscan Sun

|

For their honeymoon, Roberto and Elena left the bustling chaos of Chicago behind and flew to a quiet, secluded villa in the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy.

It was a world away from corporate boardrooms and foundation galas. The air smelled of warm earth, crushed grapes, and ancient stone.

They spent their days wandering through ancient olive groves, drinking local wine on a sun-drenched terrace, and reading books in comfortable, uninterrupted silence.

One afternoon, Roberto was standing on the balcony of their villa, looking out over the vast expanse of vineyards stretching toward the horizon. Elena walked up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her cheek against his back.

"You are thinking very loudly," Elena teased softly. "I can hear the gears turning from across the room."

Roberto chuckled, turning around and pulling her into his embrace.

"I was just looking at this place," Roberto murmured, gesturing toward the peaceful landscape. "It's so completely removed from the noise of the city. It’s a true sanctuary."

"It is," Elena agreed, looking out at the hills. "It makes you realize how loud our normal lives actually are."

"I was thinking about the foundation," Roberto said, his mind sparking with a new, visionary idea. "We do incredible work in the city, but the environment is still chaotic. What if we built something like this? A sanctuary."

Elena pulled back slightly, looking up at him with intrigued, sparkling eyes. "A sanctuary for who?"

"For the children at Sofía’s academy," Roberto explained, his voice growing animated with excitement. "A specialized, immersive campus outside the city limits. A place surrounded by nature, designed entirely around tactile learning and sensory experiences. Safe, quiet, and completely tailored to their needs."

Elena stared at him, absolutely captivated by the sheer brilliance and compassion of the idea. The ruthless CEO who used to acquire companies for sport was now dreaming of building sensory gardens for blind children.

"It's a magnificent idea, Roberto," Elena breathed, standing on her tiptoes to kiss him. "It is the perfect next step. We start drafting the plans the moment we get home."
