Chapter 29 - The Terms of Surrender

|

Valentin pushed a thick stack of legal documents across the mahogany table toward me.

"What is this?" I asked, not touching the papers.

"This is the total transfer of Montes Global Group and your foundation's assets into the Vance International Trust," Valentin explained, taking a slow sip of his water. "Sign it, and I allow you and your son to live comfortably in exile. Refuse, and I trigger the default clause."

"And if the default clause triggers?"

"Then your father goes to federal prison for thirty years for international bank fraud," Valentin said, his cold eyes narrowing. "Your foundation's land is seized, turning your homeless shelters into commercial real estate. And Nicolás... well, Nicolás loses every cent of his inheritance."

"You took my mother's life," I said, my voice trembling with suppressed rage. "You used my father's desperation to turn my life into a cage."

"I gave your father an empire, Elena!" Valentin barked, slamming his glass onto the table. "He was a nobody! I built the life you enjoyed! I paid for your education, your clothes, your art classes! Every breath you took was subsidized by my bank!"

"Then it's time to close the account," I said calmly.

I reached into my coat pocket. Valentin’s personal bodyguards instantly reached for their shoulder holsters, but Mateo stepped forward, his hand hovering over his own weapon.

I didn't pull out a gun.

I pulled out a small, satellite-linked recording device and set it on the mahogany table.

A green light flashed on the screen—a live, encrypted broadcast feed.
