Chapter 37 - The Second Son

Alejandro stared at the young man behind the glass, his breath catching in his throat. "What are you talking about?"
"Our father, Valentin Vance, spent thirty years treating you like his golden heir," the young man explained smoothly, leaning closer to the glass. "He gave you the Montes assignment. He gave you the money, the access, the power. And what did you do with it?"
Alejandro’s grip tightened on the phone. "I... I was set up by Elena!"
"You were beaten by a woman because you were weak, arrogant, and foolish," the stranger interrupted coldly. "You let her put our father in a Swiss prison. You let her dismantle thirty years of the Vance network."
"Who are you?" Alejandro demanded, his voice shaking with sudden terror.
"My name is Julian Vance," the young man introduced himself, his gray eyes devoid of all warmth. "Valentin’s legitimate son. The son he kept in the shadows while he sent you to play games in Madrid."
Alejandro gasped, pressing his face against the glass. "Julian... listen to me! Elena has the flash drive! She has the master accounts! She froze everything!"
"I know what she has, Alejandro," Julian said calmly, adjusting his silk tie. "And that is why I'm here."

"Are you going to break me out?" Alejandro pleaded desperately. "We can take her down together! We can get the money back!"
Julian let out a quiet, amused laugh. "Break you out? No, Alejandro. You are right where you belong. You are a failure."
