At 2:00 PM, Rafael’s chief forensic accountant, Marcus Vance, entered the hospital suite carrying a thick leather briefcase.
“Don Rafael, Mrs. Navarro,” Marcus said, bowing his head respectfully. “We’ve executed a deep audit on Alejandro’s personal and corporate holdings as per your authorization.”
“What did you find, Marcus?” Rafael asked coldly.
Marcus opened his laptop and turned the screen toward Elena.
“Yesterday morning—roughly six hours before the party at the mansion—Alejandro submitted an urgent request to transfer four million dollars out of your joint marital liquidity fund into an offshore shell company registered in the Cayman Islands.”
Elena frowned, bewildered. “Four million dollars? That was the money my trust fund deposited for Nicolás’s future education!”
“Precisely,” Marcus noted. “And here is the twist. The shell company is listed under an irrevocable trust in the name of Nicolás Navarro. However, Alejandro appointed himself as the sole, un-removable managing trustee with exclusive signing power.”
Elena looked at her father, sudden clarity washing over her.
“He knew,” Elena realized, her blood running cold. “He was already planning to bankrupt me financially before he even touched me physically!”

“He knew your marriage was deteriorating,” Rafael deduced, his voice dropping into a dark, murderous register. “He was siphoning your assets so that if you ever tried to leave him, you would be financially destitute and forced to fight him for custody without resources.”
“He miscalculated one thing,” Elena said, her eyes flashing with a dangerous, newly discovered fire. “He forgot who my father is.”
